"Thinking, fast and slow" - Daniel Kahneman

I received this book as a gift from my Israeli friend (thanks, Orna!), and it took me a long ten years to finally read it. It’s a tough read, but definitely worth it. I might be biased, though (pun intended), since I’ve been skeptical about everything from a very young age — including, ironically, why I’m so skeptical in the first place. Where’s the catch?

Whether it’s religion, philosophical doctrines, or mental abilities (mine manifest as impostor syndrome), I’ve always believed that we shape our view of the world — and concepts like “gods” — more as a reflection of our inner workings than through careful, objective analysis.

With that said, it’s hard for me to be fully objective when reviewing this book. I enjoy math, especially probability theory, so examples involving large numbers are a treat. But the book isn’t dry at all; it has a very personal touch and, at times, reads almost like an autobiography. And well, as a middle-aged man, I enjoy autobiographies too. I have nothing to complain about.
